2008 was the first year for a Professional Rodeo in Conway! It was deemed a success and people that attended, proclaimed the Rodeo "Great Entertainment at Affordable Prices!" The action was fast paced and the comic relief was hysterical! Tom Reeves of Wild Card Rodeo Company, the stock contractor for Conway's first Pro Rodeo was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Co. in July of 2008. His company brought some of the wildest bucking stock that has ever been in this area. He also brought with him, four of his Ranger, Texas College Men dressed in various costumes to ride even greater bucking horses! When the Gerber Baby rode his horse and spit out his pacifier just before being planted in the arena dirt, the crowd was on their feet!
Cody Sosebee the "Funny Man of Rodeo" did an Elvis Presley rendition and had the crowd was in stitches with laughter! He jumped a "ring of fire" from the bed of his pickup with his pocket rocket (tiny motorcycle) and he also supervised the $500.00 Calf Scramble for the kids.
The committee that worked to bring the Pro Rodeo to town gives all the credit for the success to the generous sponsors.
"We as the committee feel Conway is large enough to host this Pro Rodeo for years to come. We now have our 501 (3) C Corporation status. We hope to be able to provide the agri/rodeo/farm related students with college scholarships from funds generated from this great Rodeo. We are committed to the youth in our area and believe rodeo youth, farm and agriculture kids are some of the most outstanding individuals in our society! We are very excited about this Rodeo!
In May of 2009, we will bring to our community, some of Toughest Cowboys and Toughest Livestock in the United States, with activities for the kids and kid at heart!
